Landmark Communications is out with a new poll in Georgia that finds David Perdue (R) and Michelle Nunn (D) tied in the U.S. Senate race, 47% to 47%. 50% of vote is needed to avoid runoff election.
The Georgia Secretary of State’s Office says 710,000 people have already cast a ballot, including 41,000 in Gwinnett County.
“You don’t normally have elections that are being decided by two or three percent of the electorate, not on top of the ticket,” said Landmark Communications President Mark Rountree. “I don’t think Georgia has seen anything like this in quite a while.”
Rountree told Geary that early voting could lead to a higher African-American turnout than first projected – up 3 percent from 2010, the last non-presidential election.
