Various polls all show one common pattern, that Democrats are not excited or motivated to vote. While this could possible be true and history is there to support the polling data, there is one state that Democrats are more enthusiastic than Republicans, Kentucky. Kentucky has a great chance this Tuesday to force Senator Mitch McConnell into early retirement after being a career politician that has done little for Kentucky in the past thirty years.
We reported last week that McConnell’s campaign is paying for people to come to his campaign events and cheer. Well it doesn’t seem like that is working well because at an event yesterday, the crowd that The Courier-Journal estimated to be 250 people, McConnell continued to campaign against President Obama and Harry Reid, “If you only remember one thing we say tonight between now and next Tuesday, we have got to re-elect Mitch McConnell so that we can finally retire Harry Reid.” Senator McConnell was so disinterested in the rally that he left before Governor Jindal spoke.
Yes, while Democratic challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes was addressing a room of 16,000 Kentuckians last night, Senator Mitch McConnell spoke to a virtually empty room of 250 people while campaigning with Governor Bobby Jindal (R-LA).
Momentum is clearly with Alison Grimes and Mitch McConnell is having trouble bringing out his supporters to attend rallies. The problem for Grimes is this, her supporters MUST vote on Election Day because if there is one thing Republicans have showed that they are good at it is showing up on Election Day and voting.
