Senator Mitch McConnell Loans $1.8 Million to His Campaign

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) of Kentucky would like to remind everyone that the race isn’t close and the media, especially in Northern Kentucky ran with it. McConnell’s re-election, despite having the same low approval rating as Obama, 37%, was inevitable as death and taxes. Yet a Blue Grass poll earlier in the week had him up by just one-point and the DSCC came back on the air for Alison Grimes. McConnell would like to paint Grimes as out of touch with Kentucky but yet Alison Grimes has a better approval rating and polls find that just under a quarter of Kentucky views Mitch as a true Kentuckian.

Earlier in the week I posted an article titled “Mitch McConnell is Paying Supporters to act “Enthusiastic” Over His Failed Agenda”, which details Mitch McConnell sad attempt to get more people to visit his bus tour around Kentucky. He offered anyone who would come and act excited and “enthusiastic” at his campaign events free stuff such as meals, hotel rooms and a free ride to the event. Could McConnell be getting anymore desperate? The answer is yes. Politico is now reporting that Mitch McConnell will be giving his campaign a loan.

“Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell plans to counter the influx of Democratic spending aimed at defeating him by writing a big personal check.

The Republican leader is loaning his campaign $1.8 million out of his own bank account, exceeding a $1.5 million investment by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Senate Majority PAC to bolster the prospects of Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes.”
