The World Health Organization has announced that Ebola deaths have passed 3000 in west Africa. It is believed that 6500 people have been infected, with Liberia bearing the brunt of the outbreak, with 1830 deaths. It is estimated that with current trend, the epidemic could infect 20,000 people by November. The US has promised 3000 troops to help with the epidemic in Liberia. President Obama called on other states at the UN to help with the outbreak. Britain, France and China have pledged military and civilian personnel, as well as cash and medical supplies. The World Bank has said it will give an additional $170 million to support medics and health care systems in the region. Even Cuba has sent 300 medical personnel to help.
