SEN-IA: Ernst Holds Six Point Lead

Des Moines Register is out with a new poll in Iowa that finds Joni Ernst (R) expanding her lead on Bruce Braley (D) in the race for the U.S Senate, 44% to 38%. A shocking development for Democrats who earlier in the spring saw Braley as a shoo-in replacement for the seat that has been held for thirty years by liberal Tom Harkin.

This race however is still far from over, this is Iowa and neither will win by six percent. Right now twelve percent of likely voters are undecided and a strong finish by the Braley campaign could easily see him erase the lead with a month left to campaign. Expect Democrats and the GOP to dump a lot more money in Iowa in the next few weeks.
