A new poll by We Ask America in Illinois finds that challenger Bruce Rauner (R) is barely ahead of Governor Pat Quinn (D), 44% to 41%.
The poll confirms that the race for governor in Illinois has tightened up greatly. Just two months ago Governor Quinn looked like a dead man walking and Mr. Rauner had a great chance of winning the blue state by double digits. Now this won’t be the case.
The reason? Quinn is linking Rauner to the Koch Brothers and Democrats in the state are slowly forgiving Quinn missteps and coming home, both bad news for Rauner because the attacks are working and he can’t win without pealing off some Democratic votes. Turnout looks to be key here.
